Step 1: Mindset

Get in the mindset that you and your pet deserve health and success.

What is your why?

Please look at the image above.

On the left: Unhappy, insecure, angry, alcoholic. This was me starting 2019. I was tired of my clothes not fitting anymore, constantly sucking in my gut to wear my favorite shirts, tired of being uncomfortable in my own skin, and tired of just feeling hopeless and angry all of the time. My realization began one evening when I came home from a rotation at the veterinary school, immediately walked to the refrigerator, opened a beer (as I did every night), grabbed a jar of Trader Joe’s cookie butter, and walked over to my recliner where I would sit the rest of the night until I needed to grab another beer. I remember sitting there and I could literally feel fat rolls near my armpit that I had never felt before. As I finished my beer I then proceeded to struggle to get out of my recliner and by the end of it I was actually huffing and puffing when I got to my feet as my roommate at the time brought it to my attention at how out of breath I was (these are the kinds of people you need in your life). That’s the moment I decided this isn’t going to be the rest of my life, and I’m going to make a change. I’m not here to knock the cookie butter and alcohol life by any means, but if you think you deserve more then I’m here to support you in that endeavor. The first step is absolutely finding your why and never forgetting it especially when life becomes difficult; because IT WILL, but that’s where the real growth begins.

On the right: HappiER, MORE confident, goal driven, balanced (I still drink alcohol but not as an outlet for my unhappiness). This is me starting 2020. I don’t know what the next few years will bring, but I am more excited than ever, energized, and constantly working to improve my circumstances. I am not even close to perfect, but I am damn sure I’m starting off this year in a much better place than I did last year. We all have to start somewhere. If you are unhappy, then there is literally no better time than right now to make a change, no matter how small.

My continued goal is to stop being a bystander in life, just going through the motions. I want to live life to the absolute fullest, take risks, and see just how much I can achieve and how much good I can bring to the world. The journey never really stops, and I hope that my why can give you the spark you need to find yours and own it. See you on the path my friends!
